Driver’s License
You must obtain SC license plates within 45 days and driver’s license within 45 days after moving into the state. Apply at SC Hwy Dept on SC Rd. 53. The McCormick SCDMV branch is open only on Wednesday 864-465-3229 or go to
www.scdmvonline.com/driver-services for more information.
Golf Cart Permit
If you have a valid driver's license and golf cart permit, you may drive the golf cart during the day within four miles of your home or business and on secondary highways.
Once the golf cart permit and registration document have been issued, you must place the permit decal on the golf cart and carry the registration document in the golf cart at all times.
To receive a golf cart permit, you must do all of the following:
- Complete the Golf Cart Permit Registration (SCDMV Form GC-2)
- Provide proof of insurance for the golf cart
- Provide your valid driver's license number
- Pay $5
You may purchase a golf cart permit at any SCDMV branch.

Mail Delivery
Here are some helpful guidelines to follow when placing your mailbox:
- Position your mailbox 41″ to 45″ from the road surface to the bottom of the mailbox or point of mail entry.
- Place your mailbox 6″ to 8″ back from the curb. If you do not have a raised curb, contact your local postmaster for guidance.
- Put your house or apartment number on the mailbox.
- If your mailbox is on a different street from your house or apartment, put your full street address on the box.

Modoc Volunteer Fire Department Information
The MVFD meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 PM at the MVFD building in Modoc. If you have a little or a lot of time, there is something for you to do. For further information contact President, Claude Bussey or Chief Brad Barbee at modoocvfdchief@gmail.com. The Modoc Volunteer Fire Department currently has an ISO Class 4 rating.
Fire Permits: If you plan to do any burning, you must register your burn by calling the 1-800-705-8616 on the day of your burn. This is an automated system which will require registering your location, name and phone number. The automated system will give you information regarding the burn level for that day.
